Chapter 49: Millie Tang

Chapter 49 Millie Tang (Part )

On the boundless ice field, the biting cold wind wrapped up the ice and snow on the ground, rolling up waves of white snow.

Two figures gradually became clear in the snow waves. They wrapped their khaki windbreakers tightly and moved forward step by step with difficulty.

Jeremy lost his balance and fell onto the ice field. The cold wind made the soil hard. The pain was so real that he felt that the wrist that supported his body was bruised.

"Man, this doesn't seem like... a dream. We were just in the carriage... right?"

"We were in the carriage, on the way to Saint-Ding City. I... didn't see clearly what happened. I just remember that we made a bet to guess whether it was a boy or a girl. I don't remember what happened after that."

"What do you think? Could it be that something went wrong with our previous blessing ceremony? The God of Wisdom blamed us and threw us here?"

"Uh... engine oil, snake grass, rust on screws, chronograph hands... nothing wrong."

"Wait a minute...did I ask you to change the engine oil again, you bastard! Don't think I don't know that you secretly added something to the engine oil!"

"But there has never been a problem before! I have run this route more than a dozen times..."

"Damn it, you are disrespectful to the God of Wisdom. I will let you kill me!"

"Don't keep dwelling on this! Go outside first. It's too cold. If you keep arguing here, you'll freeze into ice sculptures sooner or later."

The two continued to move forward in the wind and snow while arguing. After walking for another three or four minutes, they vaguely saw a figure in front of them.

The figure was not tall, and was wearing a multicolored sweater that didn't fit him well, and he had to roll up his sleeves several times to barely reveal his palms. Looking at his face, he had short black hair, but his facial features had a breathtakingly delicate beauty.

This... isn't this the boy that the two people on the train were betting on?

"Hey! Boy! Why are you here too?"

Jeremy waved his arms and greeted the other party.

The young man seemed at a loss at this time, with his arms folded together, stamping his feet and looking around. When he saw Jeremy and the other two, he was very excited, with a look of joy on his face as if he had survived a disaster.

"Gentlemen, who are you... I just fell asleep on the train and came here after waking up. Did something happen to the train?"

"Accident! Damn accident! It was this bastard who messed up the prayer, and the God of Wisdom punished us by throwing us into this crappy place!"

The more Jeremy thought about it, the angrier he became. He almost wanted to punch his companion.

"Punish me!? That's it. Are we...are we going to die here? And I haven't committed any crime. Please talk to the God of Wisdom and ask him to let me go back."

The boy pursed his lips and looked like he was about to cry.

"It's useless! If we could contact the God of Wisdom, we would have returned long ago. Let's go. Waiting here to die is not a solution."

Jeremy's companion probably felt that he was in the wrong and tried to smooth things over vaguely.

"Where should we go? We don't know where we are. We can't see the sun or the moon, and we can't even tell the direction."

The boy looked so frustrated and depressed that he had given up. Jeremy smiled with disdain. After all, he had seen how cowardly the boy was just now. If he hadn't met the two of them, this guy would definitely not survive for more than an hour.

"Boy, where did you come from just now? Have you been waiting here all this time? Have you seen anything other than snow and ice?"

"No, sir. It took me seven or eight minutes to get here. When I first woke up, I was in that direction."

The young man pointed forward and then said:

"I remember there was a mountain behind me, but I thought it was too high, so I walked in the opposite direction. God bless me, I met you."

"Mountains? If it's a mountain, there might be a cave. Let's try our luck and see if we can find a temporary shelter to block the wind and snow."

"This...is a good idea. Why didn't I think of it at the time?"

The boy smiled shyly, as if he was inspired and felt that this was a way to survive.

The three of them continued walking in the direction the boy pointed. Jeremy and his companions prayed along the way. They humbly confessed their sins to the God of Wisdom in their hearts, hoping that they would not get lost in the heavy snow. "Sir, do you see the mountain? That's the snow mountain I saw before."

Jeremy was overjoyed. His prayers worked and the God of Wisdom blessed him. No, he shouldn't be too happy too soon. If he couldn't find the cave, he would be dead.

The three of them walked to the foot of the mountain. The mountain was too high. They couldn't see the top when they looked up. If it was a sunny day, they would be able to see the mountains from afar, but it was windy and snowing. It was a blessing from the gods that they could find it at this time.

Good luck seemed to continue, favoring the three poor people.

After walking around the mountain for half an hour, they finally found a cave.

It might not be quite accurate to call it a cave. It was like a hole torn in the mountain by a giant. The top of the cave was extremely high and it was wide on both sides. At the beginning, the three were still worried about the problem of lighting.

After entering, they discovered that there was a crack on the top of the cave. Wind, snow and light poured into the cave through the crack. The three of them could only keep moving forward, hoping that the mountain deep in the cave would shrink a little to block the wind and snow.

"Can you still hold on, kid? You're getting slower and slower."

Jeremy glanced at the boy. It seemed that the boy couldn't hold on any longer. After finding the cave, he seemed to be exhausted and his feet were shaking when he walked.

Jeremy had secretly made up his mind that he must keep the clothes left behind by his companions after he froze to death, and not let their companions get there first.

"Uh, uh... not very well, sir. I feel like I have a fever and my legs are numb. I can't walk anymore. I... I think I need to build a fire to warm myself."

As the boy walked, he strayed from the path in the center of the cave and could only move forward by holding on to the wall.

"Man, I feel like the light is getting dim, what do you think?"

His companion's words reminded Jeremy. He looked up and saw that the crack in the mountain above his head was indeed closing little by little as the passage extended.

Deep in the dark cave ahead should be a safe shelter, which will at least be much warmer and drier than outside.

The two were already on the verge of exhaustion, but the joy of finding a refuge still kept them going faster and faster, stepping into the darkness step by step.

Jeremy had his own ideas. He planned to wait until the boy outside froze to death or lost consciousness, and then he would take off his clothes and put them on, so he deliberately fell behind.

As he walked, he heard a strange sound ahead, which sounded like a tanner polishing leather with sand and stone.

Along with the strange sound, he also smelled a pungent sour smell. Could it be... sulfur!

Jeremy had read in church scriptures that there might be sulfur in the cave, and where there was sulfur there would be warm groundwater. This was undoubtedly another shot in the arm, and he continued to move forward in the dark.

"Uh uh uh uh..."

As he walked, a painful groan suddenly came into Jeremy's ears. He stopped and dared not move forward. The sound sounded familiar. Was it made by his companion?

There may be danger ahead... It was not until this moment that Jeremy felt fear, which finally came from human beings' natural fear of unknown things in the dark. He waved his arms and groped around, trying to find his companions.

If he can find it, they can go together. If he can’t find it, there is nothing he can do and he has to turn back.

But just when he was about to give up, his left hand reached down and happened to touch his companion's woolen coat.

"You old bastard, what are you sitting on the ground screaming for! This place... I don't think it's safe, let's retreat first."

Jeremy reached down his shoulder to touch his companion's arm, trying to pull him up, but his hand reached out to nothing!

There are no arms below the shoulders!

At this moment, a hazy orange firelight came from behind, and Jeremy could see everything clearly with the help of the firelight.

His companion had no arms or legs, all his limbs were cut off, and the remaining torso and head were hammered into the frozen soil like wooden stakes!
