Chapter 57 This Monk Is Not Good
Kichijoji is different from other temples that are usually located in famous mountains or rivers or in the wilderness. It is located in Kichijoji-cho, Komagome, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo. It is surrounded by a large commercial area and is the largest commercial district west of Shinjuku.
Its location is roughly equivalent to the Five Rings of BJ.
Like Shinjuku and Shibuya, there are chain shopping malls and specialty stores there, which are large in scale and are designed to provide convenience for the middle-class residents nearby.
Kichijoji has also been voted as the most popular place to live in Tokyo for many years.
Little hidden in the wild, big hidden in the city.
Kichijoji is probably the temple that best interprets this sentence.
Naturally, Heimiya Chiye had heard of this temple located in Bunkyo Ward and not far from the school.
Kichijoji Temple originated from the Soto Zen sect founded by Zen Master Dogen. Today, Eiheiji Temple and Sojiji Temple are the two main temples.
There are about 1000 million followers in Japan, which is considered a very large Buddhist sect.
Pinggong Qianye's greatest impression of the Caodong Sect is their teachings. They believe that using one's mind well in daily life and finding joy in interacting with others is the greatest way to practice.
This is a rare doctrine that emphasizes integration with the secular world. It does not require famous mountains or ancient temples, nor does it require seclusion for deep practice.
As long as one believes in this doctrine, any place, such as streets, shopping malls, bars, roadsides, etc., can be a place for practice.
Kichijoji is undoubtedly a good name, and there are temples like Kichijoji in many countries.
In Buddhist scriptures, auspiciousness means being free from disasters, stopping doing evil and cultivating good, and bringing happiness to all living beings.
It is a name with good meaning, so naturally many temples like to use it as their name.
For believers, good luck is also their most simple desire.
While Hiramiya Chiye was thinking, Horii Suzune gently tugged at the corner of his clothes, motioning him to look in the direction of the crowd of police officers.
There stood a young monk with a delicate face, looking very clean.
He is probably around 20 years old, not too old, and should be the young generation of Kichijoji who have recently traveled outside.
The man's figure quickly disappeared along with the police officers. Horii Suzune waved to Hiramiya Chiye, "Follow me, this way."
Horii Suzune said that she knew a police officer inside and could get a little closer to the crime scene from his position.
Deep in the alley, Officer Mikami looked at the young monk from Kichijoji, whose Buddhist name was Ruyi, and suppressed some of his doubts. He quickly told the young monk about their exploration of the body and their findings at the scene.
Having been busy at the first scenes of death for many years, Officer Mikami himself is still willing to believe in the existence of ghosts and evil spirits.
The Ruyi monk silently gazed at the intact, bloody crime scene, chanted a Buddhist name, and asked the two young police officers to follow him.
He continued to go deeper into the alley, and as if being drawn by something, or tracking some suspicious clues, he went back and forth among the houses in the alley, searching.
Finally we arrived at a rather dilapidated house at the end of the alley.
The windows on the second floor of the house were surrounded by iron sheets, completely blocking the view from below.
Monk Ruyi walked around the house several times, and after confirming something, he stood at the gate, clasped his hands together, lowered his head slightly, and chanted devoutly.
"Namo Amitabha Night, Duotagadu Night, Duo Diye Night, Amitabhavi..."
The sound of the mantra chanting was clear and penetrating. Although it did not have a majestic aura, it penetrated into the room through the door.
boom!
Bang bang bang!
Someone or something on the second floor was banging on the iron window with great force, and the iron soon became uneven.
Upon seeing this, the two police officers guarding the Ruyi monk took out their guns, warned the Ruyi monk a few times, then kicked open the door of the house, one on the left and one on the right, and went deep into the house to investigate.
As the chanting became louder and more passionate, the banging sounds coming from the iron windows on the second floor became more intense.
At this time, at the entrance on the other side of the alley, a truck loaded with garbage stopped by and a middle-aged man in sanitation worker's clothes got out of the car.
He was pushing a small cart loaded with garbage, and seemed to be attracted by the sound of the monk chanting, and he moved closer step by step.
"Mage, what are you doing?"
"Rescue the soul of a dog that harmed people."
Monk Ruyi had time to respond and asked the sanitation worker to leave first and come back later to clean up the garbage nearby.
"Master, you are so merciful."
The middle-aged man put his hands together, bent down and bowed. Monk Ruyi was unable to distract himself and speak, so he could only return the greeting.
When he lowered his head, the middle-aged man standing in front of him picked up the shovel on the cart. His whole demeanor changed instantly, and his eyes were full of ferocity and brutality. He raised the shovel high and chopped off the monk's head!
boom!
A stone half the size of a fist came from behind and hit the middle-aged man's hands holding the shovel accurately, causing him to subconsciously let go of his hands due to the pain.
Bang!
The crisp sound of the iron shovel hitting the ground made Monk Ruyi react.
His face changed suddenly, and his first reaction was not to capture the middle-aged man who was distracted by the pain, but to step back in panic. He lost his balance and fell to the ground.
He didn't look like the calm and composed monk he was just now at all.
The middle-aged man quickly overcame the pain in his hands, quickly bent down to pick up the shovel, and swung it hard again, smashing it at the Ruyi monk's head!
boom!
A gunshot rang out, hitting the middle-aged man's right shoulder, and the pain made him lose his aim.
The iron shovel passed by the monk's ear, and the sharp tip of the shovel cut through the ground, striking out sporadic sparks.
"What do you want to do! Put down your weapon!"
The person who fired the shot was Officer Mikami who came to the area.
Seeing that the best opportunity had been missed, the middle-aged man covered his injured and bleeding shoulder and tried to escape despite the injury.
boom!
Another bullet hit the inside of his right calf accurately, and the pain made him fall to the ground.
At this time, Officer Mikami waved his hand and asked the police officers beside him to step forward and capture the criminal who intended to kill Monk Ruyi.
"Master Ruyi, are you okay?"
After doing all this, Officer Mikami quickly trotted over and pulled up Monk Ruyi from the ground.
"Amitabha, good, good, good."
Monk Ruyi stood up and chanted the Buddha's name softly, looking towards the place where the shovel first landed, where there was a stone stained with blood.
Just before Officer Mikami rescued me, someone else rescued me.
If he hadn't thrown the stone, his head would have been hit by the man holding the shovel at the first hit.
Monk Ruyi stood where he was, looking in the direction where the stone had just flown from, but he did not see any suspicious figures within his sight.
"Master Ruyi, what are you looking at?"
"It's okay, I just don't know what the situation is inside."
As soon as Monk Ruyi finished his words, the iron-surrounded windows on the second floor were blown away.
A large black dog, about the size of a calf, jumped out of the window and landed silently.
A layer of light black mist lingered around its body, making its huge body, which was already different from that of an ordinary dog, look even more terrifying.
Officer Mikami and the other two policemen subconsciously drew their guns and fired, but the bullet went straight through the body of the big black dog without leaving a bullet hole, let alone causing any damage to the big black dog.
"Om, ma, ni, ba, mi, hum!"
The monk Ruyi hurriedly recited the "Six-Syllable Mantra of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva". Light golden Buddha light accompanied by scriptures appeared in the air and rushed towards the big black dog, as if to form a cage and lock it inside.
"Wang!"
The big black dog raised its head and grinned. With a bark, a cloud of black smoke came out of its mouth and swept past, dispersing the scattered spells of Monk Ruyi.
At the same time, his body turned into a black whirlwind and rushed forward. Officer Mikami and Monk Ruyi were knocked to the ground.
"Ji Lang, run!"
The restrained middle-aged man shouted at the big black dog, and the big black dog changed direction and ran towards the entrance of the alley where the garbage truck was.
As dusk approached, the sunlight at the entrance of the alley was closer to orange, and was far less hot than at noon.
As the big black dog's body escaped from the darkness of the alley and ran towards the sunlit place.
boom!
It was like a golden Buddha's palm came from the sky, containing an indescribable power, and slammed the big black dog to the ground!
There was no time to scream or struggle.
The black dog, as big as a calf, disappeared out of sight of Monk Ruyi, Officer Mikami and others.
There wasn't even a wisp of smoke.
