Chapter 134: Killing is to protect lives, killing karma is not killing people
Koyasan is a religious city with a large number of temples.
There are more than 120 temples scattered around Kongobuji Temple.
When there are too many temples, it is easy for all kinds of complicated situations to arise.
Kongobuji is the nominal leader of the many temples in Koyasan, but it is only in name only and will not interfere in the affairs of other temples unless necessary.
20 years ago, he was born with a strange mutation and the abbot of Kongobuji Temple was seriously injured in the process of subduing demons.
He felt deeply that his own practice was inadequate, so he chose to retreat to heal his wounds and practice.
In the first few years, Kongobuji Temple remained famous, but the rapid rise of a monk disrupted the changes in Koyasan.
He called himself Master Duchen, and was originally just an ordinary abbot in one of the more than 120 temples in Koyasan.
But after years of seclusion in Kongobuji Temple, he showed his powerful skills in Homahin.
This is a powerful cultivation level comparable to that of the abbot of Kongofeng Temple before he was injured.
At that time, the power of demons and monsters was still there. Master Duchen protected Mount Koya from being invaded by demons and monsters. He had a very high prestige and was followed by a large number of temples.
After the demons and monsters in the outside world gradually disappeared, Master Duchen thought that he had killed too many people over the years and committed many sins, so he advocated that the monks in Koyasan treat the demons that have awakened their spiritual intelligence kindly.
Learn from the Buddha's compassionate actions to convert demons and monsters, and guide them to convert to Buddhism and listen to the Dharma, instead of just killing them.
Those demons and ghosts who are willing to reform themselves and listen to the compassionate Buddhist teachings will not be held accountable for their past sins of killing.
At the beginning, not many monks were willing to agree with the behavior advocated by Master Du Chen.
But as time went by, the number of demons and monsters gradually decreased and disappeared. After being far away from the wars of the past, many monks began to agree with Master Duchen's concept of compassion.
They opened the door to Buddhism, guided demons who were willing to do good to convert to Buddhism, and allowed them to practice in caves at the foot of Mount Koya.
This should be a good thing.
Converting demons, introducing them to Buddhism, and promoting the Buddhist concept of compassion are all correct from the perspective of Buddhism and Buddhist principles. For monks, they also have a sense of identity and accomplishment.
But later on, things gradually deteriorated.
Some demons appear to join Buddhism to repent for their past sins, but in reality they are only coming to Koyasan to escape disaster.
They committed murder crimes in other places and were hunted down by some Buddhist monks. With nowhere else to go, they came to Koyasan and joined Buddhism.
How to decide in the face of such a situation?
Should we kill these demons and comfort the innocent souls?
Or should we, with the compassion of Buddhism, give them a chance to mend their ways and do good?
This incident alarmed Master Du Chen, and he finally chose the latter, giving them a chance to reform.
He also made a promise that if they dared to harm people again, he would personally take action to deal with these monsters.
Many high-ranking monks who followed the hermit to Koyasan were angry about this decision.
They had witnessed with their own eyes how miserable the villages were that were ravaged by demons, how innocent lives were killed, and how tragically they died.
And how painful it was to see the irony in the eyes of those demons when they converted to Buddhism in Koyasan and learned that they were safe from now on.
In this regard, Master Du Chen gave two options.
One is to discuss scriptures and debate the Dharma with the monks on the altar, and the other is to decide the winner based on one’s cultivation level.
If he wins, the monks who come after him will not be allowed to interfere in the affairs of these demons.
If he loses, then the monk will decide whether to kill or save these demons.
With regard to Homapin's cultivation level, no other monk in the world could rival him except for a few eminent monks.
As for discussing scriptures and debating the Dharma, Duchen took the Buddha as an example, quoted scriptures and classics, and spoke eloquently.
Moreover, always having a compassionate heart is the fundamental principle of Buddhism.
Since then, Master Du Chen has never been defeated.
It was also from here that things gradually went astray.
The foot of Mount Koya has taken in many demons fleeing from their sins.
The monks regard this as a merit, and the demons regard it as protection.
If the demons truly reform themselves, become compassionate, gain enlightenment, and atone their sins wholeheartedly, then it would be a good thing.
But, demons are demons after all.
After staying in Koyasan for a few years, some demons would leave with various excuses, disappear far away, and continue to cause trouble in other places.
As a result, Koyasan became a place where demons could receive a free amulet of innocence.
There are also some demons that are reluctant to leave the protection of Koyasan, but cannot suppress their own cannibalistic greed, so they choose to secretly kill passing travelers at night.
If this kind of thing hadn't been exposed, everything would have been fine.
Once the news is leaked, the demons will quickly leave Koyasan.
Although some demons received the punishment they deserved, there are still some demons that fled away after hurting innocent lives.
The development of the situation made some eminent monks practicing in Koyasan realize that something was wrong. They decided to go to Master Duchen to discuss it and ask him to give up the idea of using compassion to convert demons.
Avoid the tragic end of Mount Koya becoming a paradise for demons.
When Monk Guozhong stopped talking here, he took a sip of coffee, calmed down and took a short rest.
After looking at Pinggong Qianye who was listening attentively, he continued, "At that time, Master Duchen did not discuss it with the senior monks, but led the senior monks to his own temple, where he saw several demons who had already believed in Buddhism wholeheartedly, were reading Buddhist scriptures, eating vegetarian food and chanting Buddhist mantras."
"Their behavior and spiritual core are no different from those of a Buddhist practitioner who has practiced for many years."
"Since then, the senior monks no longer asked about Master Duchen's affairs. Although some senior monks were still dissatisfied, they could not do anything about Master Duchen."
"This is the change that Koyasan has gone through over the past decade. The situation inside is far beyond what I can describe with words alone."
After saying this, Monk Guozhong sighed. He had tried his best to be restrained in telling these things.
Do you really think that the monks on Mount Koya are free from anger and do not want to purify the filth of this mountain with the sacred flame in the form of wrathful Myoko?
They tried to do this once before and were confronted by Master Du Chen.
As a result, several monks were defeated and died of their injuries after returning to the temple. The cultivation of Homapin was too terrifying and far beyond the ability of ordinary monks to deal with.
Among the abbots on Mount Koya, the most powerful one is only at the Samadhi level, which is a whole realm away from the Homa level.
Not to mention, Master Du Chen has been practicing at this level for more than ten years, and it is simply not feasible to solve the problem through force.
The peace in Koyasan now is because we are waiting for the abbot of Kongobuji Temple to come out and restore order.
But this possibility is very small...
Kuninaka Shojo sighed inwardly. He was also dissatisfied with the current situation in Koyasan, so he talked about so many secrets with Heimiya Chiye.
As for the expectation that Chiya Hiramachi can solve the problem of Koyasan?
He would never harbor such delusion.
The Samadhi Sutra is already a difficult mountain to climb, let alone the Homa Sutra.
"Is that Master Du Chen very strong?"
Pinggong Chiye was thinking silently, and then asked his first question.
"Very strong, indescribably strong."
Monk Guo Zhong looked worried, "12 years ago, I once stood in the crowd and saw Master Duchen perform the magic of Buddhism."
"That year I was just 20 years old. I watched Master Duchen sitting on the top of Mount Koya. He stretched out his palm and flattened a monster at the foot of the mountain that had converted to Buddhism and committed murder again, along with its cave."
"That method is beyond the scope of ordinary practitioners. It is terrible and terrifying."
Monk Guozhong shuddered and took a big gulp of coffee, using the strong bitter taste to boost his spirits.
Amulet.
Pinggong Qianye also felt emotional. He was also at this level now, but the time he had actually practiced was still short, less than two months.
If we really were to compete in skills with Master Duchen, who has been involved in the Homa Sutra for more than ten years, the outcome would be hard to predict.
This created more obstacles for him if he wanted to use his skills to solve the problems on Mount Koya.
All I can say is that Koyasan is worthy of being a holy mountain for esoteric Buddhist practitioners, as it has two great monks who are masters of the Homa Sutra.
I wonder what kind of scenery the holy monk in Dalai Lama can see?
Pinggong Qianye was in a trance for a while.
Sure enough, no Buddhist practitioner could remain calm after learning about Master Du Chen’s cultivation level.
Monk Guozhong sighed again and then began to have a headache.
The temple in Hiramachi Chiya's home also originated from the lineage of Master Kukai, and is considered to be a branch of their Kongobuji temple.
Today, the monks have noticed Pinggong Qianye's existence. In two or three days at the latest, they will surely come again to call for punishment.
This is a bit difficult.
But such a young Buddhist disciple with extraordinary cultivation must always be protected.
The worst case scenario is to ask the host to leave.
At night, Heimiya Chiye had a vegetarian meal at Kongobuji Temple.
The vegetarian meals here made with vegetables, grains, seaweed and other ingredients are delicious, better than the vegetarian meals at Toshodai-ji Temple.
At around 9 o'clock in the evening, Heimiya Chiye stayed in a monk's room in Kongobuji Temple. He sat at the desk in front of the window, reading the scriptures he had borrowed from Kuninaka Monk.
During this period, Monk Guozhong came again to see if he was used to living there. He also discussed some Buddhist insights with him before leaving.
Pinggong Qianye finished reading the scriptures at 12 o'clock in the evening, took out his fully charged mobile phone, and logged into the Pudu APP.
He had to first understand the character of Master Duchen, and then decide how to completely resolve the issue of Koyasan.
Anyway, those guilty demons and monsters have been almost killed by him. No matter how the situation develops, those demons and monsters will not come back to life.
On the forum, Pinggong Qianye compiled the story about the giant spider spirit into a short story, modified it slightly, and posted it on the forum.
"Late at night, a beautiful young woman secretly did this with a man in the woods!"
"Another title like this, worthy of Master Liansheng."
"Alas, I reflect on myself. I am guilty. Why did I click in in a split second?"
"Sometimes I really doubt Master Liansheng's actual age. This is definitely a title that only young people would come up with."
"Perhaps these stories were dictated by Master Liansheng and compiled and uploaded by his disciples."
"Is this the new bride?"
"It should be her. Spider spirit, beautiful young woman, small forest. Only she fits this image."
"Speaking of the Nephilim, I once heard a story about a man who was in love with the Nephilim. It was said that the man was of ordinary appearance, but he fell in love with the Nephilim by chance. Not only did he not die, but he also won the heart of the Nephilim."
"Humans and demons have different paths, so-called love will never have a happy ending."
Pinggong Qianye browsed through every comment as usual. When he saw Sutian Wubian appear in the comment section, he directly sent a private message to him.
【What do you know about Master Tosen of Koyasan? 】
Just a dozen seconds later, Su Tian Wubian's message came.
[Master Liansheng, please do not act impulsively. This is one of the holy places of Buddhism. We should not let blood flow there! ]
"..."
Pinggong Qianye felt strange about this. What kind of image did he have in the other person's eyes?
Do I look like such a bloodthirsty person?
Haha, prejudice, this is definitely prejudice.
I have always been a peaceful person with a compassionate heart and cannot bear to kill.
The reason for killing is just to better protect innocent lives.
Just like the Buddhist verse: Killing is to protect life. Cutting karma is not killing people.
