Chapter 11 is scar literature, right?
"My Brothers and Sisters" spans two eras, but Liu Hongmin did not intend to write about two eras, but changed it to one era. No one went abroad, but instead all four brothers went to the countryside.
To be honest, the story of "My Brothers and Sisters" is a bit cliché, with elements such as family, love, friendship, deception, blackmail, attracting fans, misunderstanding, selfishness, tolerance, struggle, and persuasion. It looks like a hodgepodge. It's fine if the TV series is long enough, but it's too long to write it as a novel.
Liu Hongmin simplified it and only retained the content about his father and several brothers and sisters.
Liu Hongmin changed his father Qi Shiyin's name to Qi Ren. He was a music teacher before, but was sent to the countryside for reform during the special period. In 77, Qi Ren was rehabilitated and returned to be a music teacher.
However, things never go as planned. In 78, Qi Ren's wife suddenly became seriously ill and died soon after. His four children were working in the village of the same county. In order to deliver letters to the children, Qi Ren encountered a car accident halfway. A horse pulling the cart suddenly got angry and hit Qi Ren directly.
Because of this incident, the four children got a chance to rebel. The eldest brother Qi Yiku took over as a music teacher, but he did not have much talent in music. Finally, after discussing with the school, he gave the position of music teacher to the eldest sister Qi Sitian. Because of this incident, the third brother Qi Tian and the fourth sister Qi Miao were very dissatisfied.
Qi Tian and Qi Miao both have musical talents and want this position. It's just that Qi Sitian is not in good health, so Qi Yiku asked her to be a music teacher so that she can take good care of her body. Qi Tian and Qi Miao also know Qi Yiku's intentions, but they have suffered too much during this special period. If they don't have a good job, their future life will be completely insecure.
The relationship between the four brothers was strained, but Qi Sitian always wanted to ease the relationship with her younger brothers and sisters. She used her salary to support the two of them, and helped collect review materials and help them review. In the end, Qi Tian was admitted to the provincial medical college, and Qi Miao was also admitted to a junior college.
Both of them left the town to go to school, Qi Yiku worked odd jobs everywhere, and Qi Sitian often subsidized his elder brother. Four years passed like this, and Qi Tian stayed in the provincial capital to become an intern doctor, always wanting to get a chance to perform surgery.
Qi Sitian joined the city art troupe and became a dancer. She also had a boyfriend who was the son of a cadre. However, her boyfriend was not a good person. He hung out with hooligans all day and asked her for money when he had no money. Qi Sitian refused several times, but was beaten up every time. After a few times, Qi Sitian dared not refuse anymore. When she had no money, she could only borrow from her colleagues.
Finally, she had borrowed all her colleagues' money and she had no other choice but to turn her attention to her second sister Qi Sitian. Qi Sitian was caught off guard and Qi Miao cheated her out of all her savings.
Qi Miao saved the money for medical treatment. She was diagnosed with cancer and wanted to use the money for treatment. Qi Sitian was very disappointed that the money was defrauded, but she did not blame her sister.
Fortunately, colleagues at school helped to raise some money to cover the medical expenses. Qi Sitian took the money to the provincial hospital, where she met with Qi Tian. When she learned that her brother had always wanted to have surgery, she immediately contacted the hospital and asked her brother Qi Tian to be her surgeon.
Qi Tian did not expect that his second sister would use herself as a test subject in order to allow him to perform the operation. Qi Tian had no confidence in the operation and hesitated during the operation. After the operation, Qi Sitian remained in a coma.
The professor comforted him, saying that Qi Sitian was in a coma because of her illness, not because of his mistake. But Qi Tian felt uneasy, so he went to the school to find out about his second sister Qi Sitian's situation. When he learned that Qi Miao had cheated his second sister's medical expenses, he immediately found Qi Miao and they had a big fight.
The two siblings turned against each other and the eldest brother Qi Yiku found out about it. After learning everything, Qi Yiku found the father of Qi Miao's boyfriend, told him everything, and asked him to take care of his son and return Qi Miao's money.
The cadre acted like a rogue, and Qi Yiku quarreled with him. Qi Miao's boyfriend came back, and the two had a conflict. During the fight, Qi Yiku severely injured Qi Miao's boyfriend, and was arrested.
The police investigated the whole story. Although they sympathized with Qi Yiku's experience, they still sentenced him to prison. After Qi Tian learned about this, he immediately helped Qi Yiku find the disciplinary inspection department through his professor's relationship. After the disciplinary inspection department investigated the matter, they arrested the leader and Qi Miao's boyfriend who had just been discharged from the hospital. After Qi Yiku was imprisoned for three years, his sentence was reduced because of his meritorious service.
On the day of his release from prison, Qi Tian and Qi Miao pushed the already seriously ill Qi Sitian to pick up Qi Yiku. After the four brothers returned home, they returned to their childhood happy state.
After revising the outline several times, Liu Hongmin finally put down his pen with satisfaction. When he looked up, he found that it was already noon.
"Brother, what are you writing?" Liu Hongying asked curiously.
"Writing a novel outline is the backbone of the novel," Liu Hongmin said with a smile.
“I want to write a novel, too.”
"Okay! Big brother will teach you."
Liu Hongying is now in primary school, and her grades are average. If she can really write novels in the future, it will be a good way out.
When the mother saw Liu Hongmin teaching Liu Hongying, she called Liu Hongjun over and said, "Second son, let your eldest brother teach you too. Then you can get into university in the future."
Liu Hongjun sat down at the table reluctantly. He didn't like studying and his grades were very poor.
During the winter vacation, Liu Hongmin taught his younger siblings while writing "My Brothers and Sisters". Although this writing speed was very slow, Liu Hongmin enjoyed it.
After finishing My Brothers and Sisters, Liu Hongmin began to think about submitting his work to the magazine. He was more confident about this novel than Shao Bao, which was a mystery novel set in ancient times and had a very small audience.
My Brothers and Sisters is different. It is about the events of the past few years. Although these “these few years” are the next few years, it can be regarded as the sequel of this special period. If we count it, it should also be regarded as scar literature, right?
Liu Hongmin was a little unsure, so he planned to go to Zou Shifang after returning to school to ask for some advice. As the editor of "Unnamed Lake", Zou Shifang was well-informed and should be able to give the right advice. Even if he was not good enough, there were still so many editors at "Unnamed Lake", and there would always be someone who was capable.
Liu Hongmin was ready to return to Beijing just after the Lantern Festival. Train tickets were hard to buy, so he needed to leave early.
His parents and his younger brothers and sisters were all reluctant to let him go. After sending him to the car, they still chased after him for a long distance.
Liu Hongmin's eyes were red, and he really hoped that this sincere relationship could last forever.
