Jiang Mo stared blankly at Mu Qingxue, who was constantly communicating with Eevee.
“Qingxue, can you understand what it’s saying?”
“Yes, I’ve been able to understand the languages of various Pokémon since I was little. It’s a special ability, just like your Tokiwa Power,” Mu Qingxue replied with a smile, a hint of smugness in her eyes, as if saying, “You’re not the only one with special abilities.”
Upon hearing Mu Qingxue’s words, Jiang Mo first thought of Psychic, but typically, Psychics can only read the minds of Psychic-type Pokémon.
That left only one other possibility—Super Power.
The function of Super Power is communication, allowing the user and Pokémon to achieve a meeting of minds. This power, compared to other special abilities, leans more towards heart-to-heart contact rather than simple mental dialogue.
Legend has it that Super Power, when cultivated to its extreme, can even pacify rampaging Legendary Pokémon, making it a truly heaven-defying ability.
After a brief period of bonding, Mu Qingxue took out a Luxury Ball and successfully captured Eevee.
On the way back to school, Jiang Mo couldn’t help but ask, “Qingxue, why have you never told me you possess Super Power?”
Mu Qingxue blinked, saying somewhat innocently, “You never asked me.”
Jiang Mo was momentarily speechless, then gave a helpless smile.
A moment later, Jiang Mo asked again, “Then what form do you want Eevee to evolve into in the future?”
Mu Qingxue gently stroked the Eevee in her arms and said softly, “I think anything is fine. It mainly depends on what Eevee itself wants to evolve into. When the time comes, I will definitely prepare the best ite for it.”
“Bui Bui ~”
Eevee was incredibly touched to hear its Trainer say this, thinking about the hardships it had endured before.
Jiang Mo nodded, then reminded her, “But you still need to foster your bond with Eevee more, and it’s best if you can teach it a Fairy-type move.”
Mu Qingxue tilted her head, a curious expression on her face: “Why?”
Jiang Mo smiled mysteriously, not answering, only saying, “You’ll know later.”
Mu Qingxue looked at Jiang Mo’s teasing expression, filled with confusion, but didn’t press further.
Jiang Mo and Mu Qingxue arrived at the school wall, and just as they were about to use their old trick to climb back into the school, they were spotted by a passing dean.
“Hey, hey, you two students over there, what class are you in? Stop!”
“Oh no, run!” Jiang Mo shouted, grabbing Mu Qingxue’s hand and dashing into the campus.
The dean chased closely behind them, and the two ran wildly along the path. Jiang Mo led Mu Qingxue, deliberately choosing secluded shortcuts.
They only stopped when they reached the bottom of a teaching building, after Jiang Mo realized the dean hadn’t caught up.
At this point, both of them were panting heavily. Mu Qingxue suddenly realized Jiang Mo was still holding her hand, and with a blush, she immediately shook it off.
Jiang Mo awkwardly scratched his head and stammered, “Uh… Qingxue, your hands are so small…”
Mu Qingxue’s face turned even redder…
“Don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking. I’m not talking to you anymore, I’m going home.”
“How could you possibly know what I’m thinking? Could it be that your Super Power can even probe my mind?”
“You… I’m not talking to you anymore, I’m going home!” Mu Qingxue turned and fled.
Jiang Mo watched Mu Qingxue’s retreating figure, the corners of his mouth curving into a slight smile.
...
The next few days were filled with intense and exciting battle exams. Jiang Mo and Pikachu advanced triumphantly, defeating many opponents and successfully entering the top ten.
But when the draw for the top four battles came out, Jiang Mo was somewhat surprised.
He was actually matched with Chen Jiaxing!
This meant that the two brothers would have a battle tomorrow. Chen Jiaxing, with his Quilava, had also remained undefeated in the battle exams.
After all, a Starter Pokémon that had already undergone two stages of evolution had a huge advantage among these civilian Trainers.
However, meeting Jiang Mo could only be considered his bad luck. Although Quilava’s level had also reached 22 after this period of special training, the gap between it and Pikachu was still considerable.
After seeing the draw results, Chen Jiaxing immediately sidled up to Jiang Mo, his face plastered with a fawning smile: “Jiang Ge, look at this mess, we’re going to be facing each other tomorrow.”
“Jiang Ge, you’re so amazing. You have to go easy on your brother then, otherwise, my old face will have nowhere to go.”
Jiang Mo rolled his eyes at him and cursed with a smile, “You brat, you dream big. How can there be any going easy in a battle?”
Chen Jiaxing chuckled, then his eyes darted around, and he asked gossipy, “Oh, by the way, Jiang Ge, you and Mu Qingxue went out for dinner a few days ago. How was it? Any progress?”
Jiang Mo replied perfunctorily, “We just had dinner. What progress could there be?”
Later, Jiang Mo really couldn’t resist Chen Jiaxing’s incessant pestering, so he briefly recounted what had happened that day.
“What! You and Mu Qingxue have already held hands!”
Chen Jiaxing suddenly shouted, drawing strange looks from the surrounding classmates.
Jiang Mo quickly clapped a hand over his mouth and whispered, “You brat, keep your voice down! What’s wrong with holding hands? It’s normal for friends to hold hands.”
Upon hearing this, Chen Jiaxing immediately started to jeer, yelling strangely, “Oh, oh, oh, friends can hold hands? Jiang Ge, don’t fool me. There’s definitely something going on between you and Mu Qingxue. It looks like I’ll have to start calling her sister-in-law from now on.”
Jiang Mo was somewhat exasperated by his antics and feigned anger, saying, “If you keep making a ruckus, tomorrow in the battle, I’ll beat your Quilava so bad it won’t know north from south, and I’ll beat the crap out of you.”
Upon hearing this, Chen Jiaxing immediately wilted like a frosted eggplant, saying with a bitter face, “Jiang Ge, I was wrong. Please don’t be so heavy-handed. It wasn’t easy for me to reach the top four, and I still want to enjoy the glory a bit longer.”
Jiang Mo looked at his pathetic expression and couldn’t help but laugh, “Alright, look at you. Prepare well for tomorrow’s battle. I won’t go easy on you.”
...
The next day, the sun shone brightly on the battle arena. Many people gathered around, their cheers rising and falling, all anticipating this spectacular top-four showdown.
Jiang Mo and Chen Jiaxing stood at opposite ends of the arena, their eyes filled with fighting spirit.
“Chen Jiaxing, we won’t go easy today. We’ll give our all in this battle!” Jiang Mo shouted loudly.
“Bring it on, Jiang Ge! We’ll also give it our all!” Chen Jiaxing was not to be outdone, gripping the Poké Ball in his hand tightly.
The referee raised the flag high and announced loudly, “Battle start!”
Chen Jiaxing was the first to throw out his Poké Ball: “Go, Quilava!”
Quilava appeared majestically on the field, a small flame erupting from its back, letting out a challenging roar.
Jiang Mo, unhurried, sent out Pikachu: “Pikachu, I choose you!”
“Pika!”
Pikachu stood there spiritedly, its ears twitching slightly, electricity sparking on its cheeks.
