Chapter 117: #117 - A world away

"Yes, that's how it happened. Could I have some more water?"

Qian Er sat across from him, handing over his water glass, already stained black. The middle-aged True King quickly took the glass and replaced it with a clean one.

Qian Er blocked one nostril and poured the entire glass of water into the other. The water flowed through his lungs, carrying away the black dust before being expelled from his nostril.

A normal person would probably be half-dead after this process, but Qian Er was a quasi-King-level Beast Master. His physical fitness had long become inhuman thanks to the feedback from the Bloodstained Saint. This situation was nothing to him.

"I'm not saying anything, but so many people enter the Dreamscape—it's called the Dreamscape, right? So many people go in to kill Nightmares and nothing happens. How did such a big thing happen as soon as you went in?"

The True King from the military frowned, holding the report in his hand.

"What? Are you complaining about me?"

Qian Er slammed the dirty glass on the table, annoyed. He was a hero now, a hero who could make demands.

"Of course not. You helped us solve a problem that has plagued us for so many years. How could we possibly complain? It's just that you did it a little too fast. We didn't even have time to react. We're still dizzy."

The military True King's face was full of smiles as he looked at Qian Er with delight.

Originally, they were planning to give Qian Er a large amount of resources, and Qian Er was to take responsibility for killing more Nightmares. But they never expected him to directly cooperate from the inside, destroying the Nightmare's lair and solving a problem that had plagued humanity for hundreds of years.

"What was that big one? Do you know anything about it?"

Qian Er asked, taking the towel Fei Yi handed him to wipe his face.

"We don't know. In fact, before you, we never had any information about that Great Nightmare or the Dreamscape. But now that the Great Nightmare has been captured by Senior Boundless Light Tree, the government is urgently gathering experts in this field to try to study and decipher the Nightmare's secrets. If we have any information, we will notify you as soon as possible."

The military True King said this because he learned from the conversation that Qian Er's new Beast, evolved from the Undying Grass, had the same Dreamscape skills as the Great Nightmare.

"...I'm not cleaning up your mess when you screw yourselves over again. I'm running away then."

Qian Er leaned back slightly to show respect. People from a few hundred years ago created something called Nightmares, which plagued humanity for centuries. Now that the Nightmare problem had finally been solved, these guys wanted to start researching again?!

"Haha, there's no helping it. It would be a waste to just throw this thing away, so the official plan is to study it and then let it return to its original ecological niche, allowing them to truly loom over all races."

The military True King scratched his head, speaking without any airs.

"Alright, alright, you guys do your thing. I need to go to sleep. I've been fighting at high intensity all night, and I'm so tired I can barely keep my eyes open."

With that, Qian Er yawned and walked into the four-person dormitory that the academy had temporarily vacated for them.

The villas in the villa district couldn't possibly have survived the Boundless Light Tree's attack. Even if there were no stray shockwaves, the vibrations would still have collapsed the houses.

If Little Boundless Light Tree hadn't transferred all the students from the villas, some of the top thirty freshmen in their class might really have died.

After all, low-level Beast Masters were no different from ordinary people in terms of physical fitness, at most just a little healthier.

So the school hastily prepared several four-person dormitories and moved these students in.

But after such a big event, probably few of these people besides Qian Er would be able to sleep.

He slept soundly until the afternoon of the next day. The continuous dreams and dream-in-dreams consumed far more mental energy than Qian Er had imagined. Even though he had eaten so many Soul Flowers to strengthen his soul, he was still exhausted.

Perhaps this was also the reason why no one wanted to face the Nightmares again. You couldn't sense it in the dream, but dreaming required mental energy. If the mental energy ran out, it would consume the soul. Countless people had been slowly killed in this way.

Opening his eyes, Qian Er stared blankly at the ceiling for a long time before sitting up and starting to get dressed.

He took out his phone, which had been turned off, and a pile of missed calls and red notification dots made his scalp tingle.

First, he sent out a group message to report that he was safe, then washed his face and headed towards the cafeteria.

He walked the path that he seemed to have already walked once in a dream, but this time there was no sense of incongruity. Instead, it was full of comfort. Of course, the hole in the sky was a bit off-putting for the time being.

"Yo, you're awake."

Qian Er had probably been discovered and reported to Yu Feiyi the moment he left his room. As he approached the cafeteria entrance, Qian Er saw Yu Feiyi, with dark circles under his eyes, standing there and smiling at him.

"Didn't you sleep last night?"

Qian Er asked curiously as he walked into the cafeteria with Yu Feiyi.

"Of course I didn't sleep. After all, I entered the dream with you. You went to sleep, so the tasks of assisting in the investigation and supplementing details fell on me, right?"

Yu Feiyi ordered a large amount of sweet-tasting food and sat across from Qian Er, complaining.

"What are you planning to do about the hole in the sky?"

Qian Er asked, not picking up on Yu Feiyi's words, but taking the initiative to start another topic.

"What else can we do? Of course, we're trying to find a way to patch it up. But I don't understand the specifics. The doctor who explained it to me was too professional, giving me the feeling of listening to a teacher's lecture back when I was in school."

After eating his meal hastily, the feeling of sugar being absorbed made Yu Feiyi feel much better. He leaned back in the cafeteria chair, closed his eyes, and spoke as if sleepwalking.

"You're too tired. Go rest for a while later."

After saying that, Qian Er picked up his clean plate and returned it before leaving the cafeteria and heading towards the resource exchange hall.

It was time for Little Ice Dragon to evolve. It had accumulated so much, and was about to enter the peak of the Fiftieth Level Guardian.

He had to sell off the things in his hands and exchange them for more resources to be prepared for anything.

"Yo, Lao Mo, I heard you poked a hole in the sky last night."

Qian Er was stopped before he could take a few steps out of the cafeteria. He turned his head and saw two young men, one burly and one thin, walking towards him. The burly man even raised his hand to greet Qian Er. It was his Third Senior Brother from the Flesh and Blood Department.

"Third Senior Brother, you know about it too?"

Qian Er didn't expect that even his Third Senior Brother would know about this after just one day.

"Of course. How could I not know about such a big thing? I didn't sleep a wink last night, just waiting to watch the show."
