Chapter 76: Security Work

Chapter 76 Security Work

"I finally understand why you said you can't solve everything." Sig said honestly.

"Nonsense, each of them can drown me with just a mouthful of spit." Zhang Ailun also swallowed his saliva.

Instead of immediately competing for space with the homeless people crowded in the shelter, the two of them stayed far away. Zhang Ailun looked at the photos on his phone, then looked at the huge crowd, and could not recognize who was who.

These black guys all look the same! There are so many of them, I can't recognize them at all. It could also be because they haven't come here yet.

Zhang Ailun took out his cell phone and sent a message to Reina.

After a while, they saw the other party appear on the balcony on the second floor. He waved at the two of them and pointed to the alley at the back door. Zhang Ailun understood and immediately took Sig to go around there.

After knocking on the back door in the alley, Reina opened the door from the inside, took a look at the empty alley outside, and immediately invited the two people in.

This was the first time Zhang Ailan used Reina’s back door.

Last time I came in through the front door, and I can only say it was a different world.

"There are so many homeless people outside, we are overwhelmed, but luckily we have you. Thank you for coming to help me, Alan!" Reina gave Zhang Alan a warm hug.

Sig also opened his hands, waiting for her to hug him, but Reina just threw him a piece of bread on the table and said, "Fill your stomach first, then you will have the strength to work!"

This is differential treatment.

Sig's face was full of resentment, but he still ate the bread tirelessly and thought it tasted pretty good.

He sighed: "It would be better if there was water!"

You really don't consider yourself an outsider, Sig.

"I'm sorry, the purified water was distributed yesterday, and the shelter's warehouse is almost out of food! There are only drinks and food prepared for the homeless, and a small box of milk reserved for the staff."

Reina smiled, turned around and took out two pairs of azure overalls and a hat from the cloakroom. There was a logo of the shelter on the cap, and a box of milk for each person to supplement their nutrition.

"But since you are here and put on this outfit, you will become our part-time workers! You will be responsible for helping to maintain order and do miscellaneous work."

"Ms. Reina, we are only here to help you, not for any reward," Sig corrected.

"But I have to find a legitimate reason to keep you two here. I have to pay you some hourly wages and some compensation, right?" Reina asked back, and then turned around and said, "Hurry up and change into your work clothes, boys. I will give you two minutes of private space."

The two were left staring at each other.

"Boss, did you bring me here just to work?" Xige was a little speechless.

"Don't say that, Sig. We are just waiting for the rabbit to come to us. In order to ensure the safety of our friends, we can wait for the mentally ill person to come to us. We can also make some money by the way. Why not?" Zhang Ailun didn't mind at all. He changed into blue overalls and put on a hat. He looked in the mirror and looked very energetic!

"You make sense." Sig didn't say anything. Of course it was good to have money. At least it was more than what he earned by picking up cans. Given his situation, it would be difficult for him to find a proper job.

Is this also in your plan? After breakfast, the two changed their clothes and went out to the staff lobby on the second floor. Reina was talking to her colleagues, discussing the arrangements for the next work, and there was also a white supervisor.

"Supervisor, these are my friends. They heard that we are short of staff and volunteered to come and help us." Reina gave a brief introduction.

"Of course I trust the people you know. I hope everyone can calm the emotions of those homeless people and not cause large-scale riots and conflicts." The supervisor said seriously. He was also frightened by the shooting incident in the Sixth Street District.

I didn’t expect that when I woke up, the homeless riot incident became a local hot search. It happened next door?

A lot of people died.

Look how scary this is!!

Fortunately, the homeless people in our Fifth Street District are easier to manage.

He smiled and held out his hand again, "Hello, my name is Cooper, and I'm the director of this shelter."

"Hello, my name is Hamburg. This is my friend Sig Compry, he is an outstanding veteran. If you have any questions, just let him handle it!" Zhang Ailun stretched out his hand and shook hands with him, with no intention of introducing his personal abilities in vain.

He has no education, no certificates, and no identity. If it is not necessary, he would rather be an idler.

"Mr. Comprey, I seem to have seen you somewhere." Cooper looked at Sig and felt that he looked familiar.

"I just appeared in front of the media yesterday and received a good citizen badge from the Southern Division." Sig decisively showed his qualifications and the golden medal, and saluted seriously. "I was a captain in the Marine Corps when I retired. I will obey your command, sir!"

Cooper instantly felt appreciated and his attitude became much better. He greeted him warmly, "So you are a veteran. That's easy! I was a little skeptical about whether you could do this well. In fact, I have already notified the security company and the police station in advance and reported it. They also agreed to send people to maintain order, but it is obvious that the police station does not have many available personnel. They need to transfer them from other branches, but it will take time. The security company is also purely for the sake of money. The price for hiring for only one day is very high, and we haven't reached an agreement yet."

"Sigur, today the job of maintaining public order is handed over to you. You will be the security captain of our shelter." Cooper recognized Sigurd's ability and immediately assigned him a formal job. He no longer asked him to do odd jobs, but wanted him to be responsible for security work.

It's fine as long as it can be used. As long as the homeless people outside are well fed and well watered, they may not cause unrest.

Wouldn't this save money on hiring a security company? Cooper calculated carefully in his mind.

Sig had no idea what he was thinking. He thought this job was just a side job and would be easy. After all, the security company was much more professional than them. He readily agreed, "Leave it to me, sir!"

"Very good, I'll give you $40 an hour! Your friend, Hamburg? I'll give him $35 an hour!" Cooper said this, but he basically ignored Zhang Allen. After all, in his opinion, this was just a companion, and the main thing was Sig's personal ability.

Zhang Allen didn't feel anything, he just thought it was the right idea to bring Sigra here. Otherwise, how could he get $35 an hour?

Here, standing guard to maintain public order and slacking off for 8 hours a day can easily earn you $280.

"Reina, take them to the security room to get equipment. You can raise your guns and fight back indoors when necessary. But try not to shoot, so as not to cause greater chaos!" Cooper assigned another task to Reina.

The shelter is a non-profit organization under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Bureau. How come working here doesn't count as half a staff position?

On weekdays, there are security personnel quotas, and they are equipped with legal gun licenses and self-defense weapons, but they are basically not used and even the positions are vacant.

There are police officers patrolling on the road, and the homeless people only come here to have a meal. If the place where they eat is destroyed, they will definitely go hungry in the future!

But the situation is different now. The homeless people are starving on the streets and drenched by heavy rain, which makes the poor families even worse off. There is no electricity or water, and the shelter cannot handle it in time. It will definitely cause unrest! The slightest carelessness will cause huge economic losses.
