Chapter 71: Begging for Holy Communion
David didn't let the two wait too long and drove the garbage truck to the side of the road.
Zhang Ailan took Gate out and wanted to help him, but David was very good at hands-on work, and neither of them did much, and he loaded all the cans in the bag into the garbage truck by himself.
David got back into the car and started it, while Gate sat in the passenger seat.
Zhang Ailun did not choose to go with them. He moved the bicycle from the car and told them, "You drive to find Leo and Monica, and then clean up the cans on the street of the pawn shop. I will go to the street of Sanji Bar to see if there are other homeless people there. I will talk to them."
"Ok, I leave it to you, boss." David and Gate certainly understood that what Zhang Ailun meant by reasoning, and it was impossible for him to just speak the truth with his mouth.
It mainly depends on what those homeless people think. If their attitude is tougher, Zhang Ailun doesn't mind being tougher than them.
The three of them went their separate ways. Zhang Allen put on his hood and rushed to the street where the Sanji Bar was in the drizzle. He passed by the door of the bar but had no intention of going in to have a drink with Mary.
We went straight to the neighborhood where the homeless man Lao Hei was shot, and to the familiar alley.
Even the wet rain could not wipe away the mottled red on the ground.
I took out my cell phone and took a look. The name of this street is Yalar Street, which can be abbreviated as Y1 Street. Together with Sanji Bar, there are three and a half streets in total.
Zhang Ailun simply rode his bike around the street and found that there were basically no homeless people wandering around here. Maybe they were scared by the gang bosses, or maybe there was a shooting nearby, so no one dared to wander around here.
There were no pedestrians on the road on a rainy day.
Only under the shade of a tree at the corner, I saw a homeless man with a crutch, carrying a black garbage bag bigger than him, and rummaging through a trash can.
"Hey. Do you need any help, sir?" Zhang Ailun immediately braked to the side of the road and greeted him.
The dishevelled homeless man looked up in shock, with food residues clinging to the corners of his unshaven mouth. Zhang Ailun glanced at the half-pack of waffles in his hand, which were obviously taken from the trash can.
I parked my bike on the side of the road and walked over. "Didn't you get the relief meal? What happened to your leg?"
"I'll leave right away, please don't hurt me! I know the rules." The homeless man mistakenly thought that Zhang Ailun was the person in charge of this street, so he immediately limped away with his crutches and a black garbage bag.
"You misunderstood. I am not the manager of this street. Although I do have this idea, I don't have enough manpower at the moment."
Zhang Ailun indicated that he had no intention of hurting him, and also gave his name, "My name is Hamburger Juan Jin. I wonder if you have heard of me? I live in the 19th bridge tunnel in the fifth block."
"Are you Juanjin from Lori Louis 19? I've heard of you!" The tramp was a little surprised.
Zhang Ailun is also pleased with his current prestige.
I didn't expect that a random homeless person on the street had actually heard of me?
But soon the homeless man looked like he didn't want to cause any trouble, and turned away with his crutches, "Oh my God! Please let me go! I didn't do anything to offend you!"
If his legs and feet were not so weak, he would have wanted to just pick himself up and roll over.
"..."
Well, it seems that my reputation for being a bad person is a bit too much!
Zhang Ailun turned around and rode his bicycle to catch up. Two wheels are faster than one leg, and he easily overtook him. "Hey, buddy, what's your name? Do you have a place to live now?"
The homeless man hurried on his way, looked back at the relaxed Zhang Ailun, and said a little collapsed: "Please don't talk to me anymore! I just came here to pick up some food! I only have 2 dollars on me! I'll give it all to you! Please! Let me go!"
It seems that this guy is often bullied.
Zhang Ailun felt that he would not be able to communicate with him normally using ordinary methods, so he immediately said, "I don't want your money. On the contrary, I was sent by God to save you! Do you believe in the existence of God?"
The homeless man immediately looked at him suspiciously.
"If you go to the streets and ask carefully, you will understand that I am not a person who likes to bully others. I like to help others! Many people are getting better and better with my help! If you also want to become better, just look for me!"
Zhang Ailun realized that his reputation was damaged and he had to correct it. "Can you give me money?" the homeless man asked.
"I can give you a job that makes money. If you just want to get something for nothing, then it's really hard for me to help you. If you want to work hard with your own hands, I promise you will live a better life than you do now!"
Perhaps Zhang Ailun’s confident words touched him, and the homeless man became more rational and stopped moving.
"Ok, it seems we can communicate normally. Hey man, let me ask you the same question as before. What's your name? How did you become like this?" Zhang Ailun asked.
"My name is Eddie." The homeless man said helplessly, "The reason why I am wandering on the streets is because this is God's punishment for me!"
"God will never punish someone for no reason," said Zhang Ailun.
"You are right. I was a pastor in a church and had a wonderful family. But because I drank and drove, I unfortunately got into a car accident, which caused me to lose my family, my job, and a leg."
Eddie said: "I was homeless and couldn't find a job. I wandered the streets for more than a year. I didn't have enough food or sleep well every day. I was also discriminated against. All of this was my own fault."
"Okay, Eddie, I just saw you rummaging through trash cans? You don't seem to be doing well. If you want to cheer yourself up, maybe you can consider joining me. My people will come to this street to pick up cans in a while. If you know other homeless people, you can also inform them. I don't object to people coming to this street to make money, but they must at least abide by the rules."
Zhang Ailun immediately began to recruit the other party to join the Beggars' Sect and explained the Beggars' Sect's operating strategy.
Eddie was immediately moved after hearing this. He didn't expect that there would be such a kind-hearted person in this day and age.
"But I am only a cripple."
"What's wrong with the cripple? We have a cripple in our camp too, and he used to be a star football player."
Zhang Ailun said without any concern: "The famous Cripple Gang in Los Angeles is called the Cripple Gang because many of the veteran cadres were beaten and crippled. Don't be discouraged. No one will discriminate against you because of this problem, at least our team won't."
"Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity!" Eddie was deeply moved. "I just happened to know a few friends who have physical disabilities like me. We were originally planning to move to a camp set up by the disabled. I heard that there are many disabled people there and they won't be bullied at night."
"Are you talking about the camp at the abandoned construction site?" Zhang Ailun hesitated.
"You know where it is?" Eddie asked in surprise.
"Of course, two of my team members live there, so maybe you will have something in common by then." Zhang Ailun said, "You can ask your friends to come over now and discuss whether they want to join our team."
"Okay! Please wait a moment. I'll go and inform my friends now!" Eddie walked away with his crutches.
After waiting for about ten minutes, he came to report with a few blind, hunchbacked, and broken-armed Beggar Gang prospective disciples.
My goodness, isn’t this definitely the innate begging holy body!
Zhang Ailun decided to open another begging project on the street. The clean clothes group picked up cans, and the dirty clothes group went begging.
Picking up cans in the morning and begging in the afternoon, how can this not be extra income?
When these homeless people heard about the benefits of the Beggars' Sect, they didn't believe it at first, especially not those pyramid schemes that cost a lot of money. But after Eddie's repeated assurances, they still chose to come and take a look.
Just then David drove over in a garbage truck. Leo and Monica got out of the car and learned the whole story from Zhang Allen.
He immediately and warmly invited the other party to move into the abandoned construction site shelter of the Beggars' Gang branch and join the big family of the can recycling and begging team.
Very good! The number of Beggars' Gang has exceeded ten for the first time in history, and it has grown stronger! !
I believe that through word of mouth in the future, more people will be attracted to join the team.
