Chapter 57: Old Pick's Auto Repair Shop

Chapter 57 Old Pick's Auto Repair Shop

Both parties happily reached this deal.

Mark found the white old man in the car shop and asked him to start printing the transfer documents and vehicle registration information, which was also a handy thing for them.

Zhang Ailun didn't ask too much about this, professional matters should be left to professionals.

He then asked the other party to drive him to a designated location in the city, and he would pay for the gas and driving fees. The main reason was that he did not have an offline driver's license. Although his driving skills were fully capable of handling large vehicles, it would be very troublesome if he was checked midway.

"I just have to go downtown for something. I'll charge you $50 from here to downtown."

Mark also agreed generously.

The white old man packed the sorted documents in a plastic bag and handed them to Zhang Ailun. "The documents have been signed. Take your basic information to the vehicle management office to register, or find someone to audit it online."

"What if the person transferring the property is an illegal resident and does not have a birth certificate or basic information?" Zhang Ailun asked.

The old man was not surprised by his question, but replied calmly: "Then find someone with legal information and register the RV under his name. If you have this need, I can also help you. The transferor can be anyone between 18 and 70 years old. Don't worry, you can pick anyone you want, and the handling fee is only $200."

"Then I'll ask my friend for help." Zhang Ailun immediately gave up the idea. What the hell is the handling fee so expensive? I only bought the car for $200, and the money you charge me for the transfer is more than the price of selling the car. Is this reasonable?

No wonder no one wants this RV yet. In a sense, it is indeed a bit useless.

People who have needs don’t have enough money and time to find someone to repair and maintain their RVs, and people who have money and time don’t have that need or necessity.

Fortunately, Zhang Ailun knew where to get it done.

After completing some formalities, Mark filled up the RV with gas. Fortunately, the price of oil here is cheaper than water, otherwise it would cost several hundred dollars to fill up such a large tank of gas.

After checking the route again, Mark got in the car and started the GMC Hiking RV. Zhang Allen sat in the passenger seat, took out his phone and used Google to locate the Old Pick Auto Repair Shop in the city, "Let's go here."

"Ok! Hold on tight." Mark glanced at the location information and started the car. With a buzz, he stepped on the accelerator.

The RV started, and a thick black and blue smoke came out from the rear of the car. It left the yard of the car shop, drove on the bumpy road, and steadily took a detour from another road and got on the highway.

Music was playing in the car. Zhang Ailun opened the side window and stretched out his hand to feel the breeze. The sun was shining brightly, and the cars next to him passed by one after another. It was indeed a very pleasant experience.

Unfortunately, the person sitting next to me is a sloppy white man who picks his toes, not a beauty.

Nothing happened along the way, and the RV had no problem getting through all the way to the sixth block in the city. The location showed the old Pick's auto repair shop.

Under the astonished gaze of the auto repair shop employees, Mark parked the RV on the side of the road, turned off the engine, took out the keys and a business card and handed them to Zhang Allen, "You can come to me again if you have any problems in the future. This is my phone number."

"There will be such an opportunity." Zhang Ailun took it, smiled, and paid him $50 for gas and driving fees.

After getting out of the car, the two went their separate ways. Mark waved on the street and got into a black Accord.

Zhang Ailun came to the store.

The people at Old Pick's Auto Repair Shop had been waiting for a long time. A white middle-aged man in blue auto repair clothes took off his gloves and walked up to ask, "Hello, sir. I'm Darren, the maintenance manager of this auto repair shop. How can I help you?"

"Hello, Darren, I want to have my old RV serviced and repaired here." Zhang Ailun said with a smile, pointing to the green GMC RV parked on the side of the road, "Cool, right?"

Darren couldn't take his eyes off the RV after taking one look at it. He was also an antique car enthusiast and knew that this big guy had some origins and history.

We walked up and circled the RV twice. Many passers-by on the street took out their phones to take pictures.

"Come in and take a look." Zhang Ailun opened the car door and warmly invited him to look inside. Darren got in, touched the interior of the RV, and sat in the driver's seat to experience it.

He exclaimed: "Man, I have to say this thing is really great. Where did you get it? It's a hiking RV from the 70s. It's rare nowadays."

In the past, these were exclusive vehicles for the rich, mostly owned by well-known Hollywood stars and wealthy middle-class families with some achievements. After all, not everyone has the time to drive an RV out for a vacation.

"I bought this car from a suburban car dealership. It had been parked in the suburbs for more than 20 years. Although there were no problems during the drive, I still don't know the specific condition of the car, so I want you to help repair and maintain it." Zhang Ailun said frankly.

Mark only gave him a brief introduction to the condition of the car. On the surface, there seemed to be no problem, but he didn't dare to go into it too deeply, for fear that he would not buy it.

The engine, spark plugs, wiring, and brakes will need maintenance. After all, what else do you want from a $200 bike?

"Give me the car keys and I can help you check the interior right now," Darren said generously.

Zhang Ailun handed him the car keys, and Darren drove the RV around half a circle and came to the backyard of the repair shop, where there were several vehicles parked that were being repaired or had been repaired and were waiting for the owners to pay and drive away.

After parking the RV in a spacious place, Darren asked Zhang Ailan to wait for a while and then went to the garage. A few minutes later, he came back with maintenance tools.

By the way, he handed Zhang Ailun a drink and asked him to wait for a while on the side for the vehicle to be inspected.

Zhang Ailun put one hand in his pocket and stood aside, watching the other party banging and banging, opening the driving floor of the RV, revealing a 455 cubic inch engine.

From the open hood, you can see that the tray for installing the battery was recently replaced and has been simply cleaned in a small area, but the surrounding area is full of rust.

It should be Mark's work. The other party also checked and maintained the car, but he was only able to drive it and started it, and did not make any drastic repairs.

The saying "all that glitters is not gold" probably means something like this.

Zhang Ailun comforted himself, what else do you want for a $200 bicycle? This is what a zombie car looks like! It can still be driven after being parked in the suburbs for more than years. It is already very strong.

Then Darren checked the dipstick and found that there was still some oil in it. Fortunately, there was no water stain. After all, if there was water in the oil and the car was driven for such a long distance, the engine would definitely roar and the internal parts would be in a state of chaos, basically ruining it.

After checking the dipstick, Darren began to inspect the cabin. When checking the air filter, he found traces of Jerry's life inside, as well as a lot of rat droppings, which is a common problem when the engine is left outdoors for a long time.

The air filter protected the carburetor in very good condition, and Darren got excited when he saw it, and started to clean the debris off the engine with a vacuum cleaner.

To keep dust and debris out of the carburetor, Darren also protected it with plastic film.

Next, Darren marked each spark plug harness with a marker and began to remove the spark plugs. Although the removed spark plugs were severely rusted, they were very dry and not wet.

After removing the spark plugs, Darren sprayed lubricant into each spark plug hole. He also called his partner from the car dealership to come under the car to help turn the engine fan and try to get the engine running for testing.

After some attempts, the engine fan started to turn. Darren opened the distributor cap again and disassembled the Platinum Ignition for inspection.

There weren't any major issues to be found, just some occasional loose connections, which Darren fixed in just a few minutes.

Then he installed it back into the distributor, and when he started it again, he could see clear and smooth sparks being produced.

The hum of the vehicle is also much smoother than before, without the previous imperceptible stuttering.

This guy has something!!
